turning the tables

I have pages and pages of lists tucked into various folders on my desktop. Lists of restaurants, interesting stories, websites, cool homes and gift ideas. I came across this table list and I thought I’d show it the light of day because I think there’s something here for everyone.

I didn’t include the table made of hundreds of compasses [with magnetic coasters] or my dream table – featuring hundreds of matchbox/Hotwheels cars, these tables are all attainable or constructable. Which one is your favorite? Have any that should be in the mix? Let me know.

This Lego table is brilliant. I love the colors and the geometric patterns the Legos make. Plus it really makes a statement against the glass top, the “ghost” chairs and the white walls.

If these “living” tables would last I would replace all of the tables in my house with them, but I’m suspect [he says eying a brown overgrown terrarium]. But they are cool.

This clamp coffee table is an excellent combination of ingenuity and elegance. The fact that the glass sits on top of the clamps is really interesting. Plus, it ships flat… take that IKEA.

I really like this table for it’s warn, yet well crafted, look. From the dark stripe in the center to the dowel inlays it’s warm and inviting. Extra points go to Jules for adding some industrial flare with the metal leg system.

Reclaimed floors are a new trend in remodeling. This bowling alley table is really amazing. The arrows really make the table by hinting at the wood’s former life. And the steel legs? A beautiful solution to supporting a 200lb table top.

I think that deep down inside of you, a furniture designer is waiting to come out. First is your blog on those really cool chairs, and now these tables (which are just as cool). If you come up with the next great furniture piece – I’ll sell it in my store.
