the art of seating

For the past couple of years I’ve had a minor obsession with chair design. I’m not sure where these little fixations come from but I suppose it could be worse.
A few times each year I head out to the Palm Springs area to run around in the mountains, lounge by the pool and generally purge the chill of the Midwest. Aside from the exponential growth in the Coachella Valley, I love the area. There is however one exception… downtown Palm Springs. To me, the main drag in Palm Springs is as loathsome as those jerks who club baby seals or the show Glee. However, a few blocks North of the main drag is a different story.
There is a small cluster of antique and modern furniture shops worth checking out. Starting with the Design Within Reach Annex and walking North, a garden of great furniture [and interior design] shops grows in the shadow of the mountains. Here are some quick pics of a few chairs that furnish the house in my dreams. We begin with the incomparable, Eames® Lounge and Ottoman [I've been crushing on this one for years].

My oldest friend sent this link over this morning. I’m now obsessing over the wood and metal chair at the bottom of the page.
